This is the only song in the songbook using and open tuning for the guitar. If you listen closely you can hear that some of the strings are not completely in tune. I believe that this de-tuned sound is intentional and have re-created it in my performances and it helps convey the mood of the song. We have all been children, and one of the saddest thoughts of a child is to lose a parent, especially a mother. This song explores those feelings that a child, indeed all children, think about now and then.
