Like Fort Worth and Dallis Blues, this song did not appear in Lead Belly's recordings after the 1930's. De Kalb Blues also appears on the Library of Congress recordings and this version shows Huddie at the peak of his powers. Like many of his songs, the guitar playing is a combination of straight and syncopated rhythm combined to form a unique song.

If I could go back in time, the first thing I would do is ask Huddie Ledbetter what made him put this song together like he did. Listen to it. You will find a very odd and interesting blues. I spent over forty hours working on the transcription of this song.
